“So you say you’re under a curse? Well so what. So’s the whole damn world.”

Calendar fun fact! As you may notice, the months of January-July follow a pattern of having 31 days and then less than 31 days. So why does August break the pattern? The answer is a wonderful bit of human/political history. The Roman calendar, from which our months derive, added August in celebration of Augustus Caesar to help fill out their full calendar of months. Originally, there was a gap of two months where, it seems, nothing important happened and thus no precise dating was used. The other, and original, additional month was... July, in honor of Julius Caesar. Now, when you give *one* emperor a 31-day month, there's no way you can give another emperor *less than* 31, right? So, August messes up the pattern and leaves us all forgetting just how many days there are in the damn month. Anyway!

This week, we are talkin' softball ("... from Maine to San Diego..."), probabilities, the normalization of violence, the problem(?) with jokes, and Princess Mononoke.

Next week, to wrap up our Miyazaki Mini-Marathon, we're watching Spirited Away.

Trigger Warning: Rape/Abuse: the discussion of problematic jokes involves mention (but no detailed discussion) of rape and child abuse. The World's Worst Podcast supports all victims of these traumatic events and wish to warn you ahead of time of their mention/discussion. Please take care of yourselves. Episode 52- “May all your bacon burn!”

Wow! We have now released one podcast for every week of a calendar year. Arguably, this is even more momentous than episode 50's "one year mark". Or, at least, this is what Ben tells himself so that he doesn't feel bad about having mentioned the milestone for this week and totally donking it for episode 50... Regardless! This week, we talk about otaku, internet arseholes, Ben's travails in 3DS land, and arguments surrounding feminism (because of course we do!). All of that, plus Howl's Moving Castle!

Next week's movie will be Princess Mononoke as we enter the second half of our Miyazaki Movie Mini-Marathon.

Episode 51- “Ask Totoro. He would know.”

We're back as promised for a full, but late, episode this week! Getting right down to it, we cover painkillers, symbolic gestures, unexpected language, and this week's movie, My Neighbor Totoro.

Next week, we continue the Miyazaki Mini-Marathon (or whatever we want to call it) with Howl's Moving Castle.

Episode 51 Update

Hello! Unfortunately, Devin had to go into the hospital this weekend with another bout of pancreatitis which threw off our recording schedule for this week. As such, Episode 51 will be delayed until tomorrow, August 18th. We will still be watching My Neighbor Totoro as planned and the episode should be of normal length and content :)

Take care, everyone!

Episode 50- Fiddly Digits

Wow! This week marks one year since our first (proper?) episode! And we totally forgot that during the intro! Now that's what I call a truly unprofessional podcast! In less exclamatory language, thank you so much for listening. It's been a real wild year for both of us, and we hope you continue to enjoy the ride :)

Now, onto business. This week, we're all about Mass Effect 3, gunplay in video games, new/old horror shorts/series on YouTube, and a forgotten Germany story! That, and Frank.

Next week we will be kicking off four(?) weeks of Hayao Miyazaki with My Neighbor Totoro.

Episode 49- “Where is the best place to hide from the shadow monsters?”

Oh, wow, dang! This week, we kinda make up for the short previous episodes by unintentionally recording our longest episode ever! We touch on Dirty Bomb, Civilization: Beyond Earth's upcoming expansion, Rocket League, hate speech, Ben's trip to Germany aaaaand Journey to the West.

Also, disregard that Devin calls this episode 48. Ben didn't count right :P

Next week's movie is Frank (for real this time).
